Danish Endurance Merino Wool Comfort: 8.5/10
The main ingredients these hiking socks are made of are: 38% merino wool, 30% acrylic, 30% polyamide, 2% elastane. A nice proprietary blend of comfortable materials.
Starting from the top, the hiking socks will go up to approximately your mid-calf with excellent grip. What I like the most about these mid-calf hikers, is the fact that the elastic over the calf does not wear over time and get loose. Since these hiking socks are quite thin you can use these with hiking boots, trail runners and hiking shoes all together.
The Danish Endurance are not as comfortable as some of our highest rated hiking socks like the Darn Tough Hiker Full Cushion, It still gets a job done in terms of comfort.
What issue I had with the comfort regarding the sole of the sock, is the fact that it gets quite thin around the underfoot where they can easily be tears and holes.I feel this thin area can be a little thicker to improve comfort and not reduce the “lightweight” feel to these socks. Well these are quite thin hiking socks which are preferred in the summer, there is a fine line between thin and durable.
Warmth 9/10
To be honest, I was quite skeptical while trying these hiking socks in the winter. Since they are so thin and lightweight I didn't think they would be able to retain their warmth throughout my cold hiking days. The Danish Endurance held up quite well in the winter months.
Unfortunately this sock is not made up of more than 50% Merino wool, Which would be ideal in the winter hiking months. Overall the Danish endurance provides a worth you would expect from a more lightweight hiking sock. There are better options out there for warmth like Smartwool Classic, a more heavyweight option.
Breathability 10/10
This is where the Danish Endurance Merinol Wool hiking sock shines. The synthetic material that makes up the rest of the hiking sock allows for excellent breathability. This is what you want in the warmer months of hiking.
Well hiking with the socks in the summer, my feet were constantly dry and I felt a nice breeze throughout my calves and feet.
These hiking socks are rated one of the highest for breathability out of all the socks we have tested. If you're someone who struggles with sweaty feet, or want a nice pair of summer hiking socks the Danish Endurance are definitely a pair to consider.
Durability 9/10
After using the Danish Endurance For over 50 miles of hiking and trekking I can attest that these are pretty durable. There have not been any tears or holes in the bottom of these socks however, there's definitely thin spots especially in the midsole where most of my weight gets planted.
The calf area of the sock is held up very well and as I said before there's been no loss of elasticity around the calf which is important. For a thin hiking sock, I would say these hold up very well against other lightweight pairs that tend to tear and rip over time.
IsThe Danish Endurance Merino Wool 3-Pack worth it?
Just think about the value of Danish 3-pack, You can grab a three pack for $34 which is approximately $11 pair. Compare that to the Darn Tough Hiker Which is $27 for just ONE pair. If you're someone who is trying to save money, while these are not the number #1 rated hiking socks they're still in our top five.
With a lightweight feathery feel and decent comfort the Danish Endurance are an excellent choice for hiking socks. We recommend using these in the warmer months of the year although we did test them in the winter and they are still functional just not as warm as the very thick merino wool socks out there. You cannot find better value out there compared to other hiking socks, so these are definitely worth it.
